Christmas Tassel Trees!
I was inspired by @thebeetique through their blog (search yarn tassel Christmas tree on @Pinterest). If you’ve been here for a minute, you know my love of tassels has been big in 2020. I took their tutorial + my previous knowledge and made these beauties.
*Tag me if you are inspired to make your own so I can share. I love seeing your creations!
Supplies
•Yarn (I suggest something less silky. I made 5 before settling on exact material and amount. The silky yarn I usually use produced tassel trees with lest texture and personality.)
•Hot Glue Gun
•3” x 3” Cardboard Square
•Scissors
•Barrel Bead
•Jewelry Hook
•Small Rubber Band
•Small Bells, Poms, etc.
•Razor Blade (optional)
1. Cut one piece of yarn to fit around three sides of the cardboard square.
2. Starting at bottom (side with no yarn), wrap yarn around square 15 times. End where you started. Cut.
3. Tie the first piece of yarn around the bunch tight.
4. Use razor (or scissors), cut bottom of yarn wrap.
5. Flip the first two tassels so the knot is hidden. You will need the extra yarn for the third tassel to attach the barrel bead and jewelry hook.
6. Cut the bottom of the tassel so the yarn is straight across.
7. Tie a third piece of yarn around the tassel to define the top. *Hint-don’t tie the yarn tight. This will give your tree more width. Also, space the wrap so the top gets taller as you go for the three tassels. This will give your trees more height. (See picture). For tassel 3, I used a small hair tie to define the place I was going to tie the yarn a little more and make sure it was held together well.
8. Repeat for tassels 2-3.
9. Attach barrel to top of third tassel (before step 7). See additional pics to help with that or look at my tassel garland highlights.
10. Flip tassels over to find the center to glue. I suggest leaving a little more yarn in the front.
11. Glue the first tassel into the center of the second; the second tassel into the center of the third.
12. Fluff and add the fancy finishes.
13. Hook onto your bead garland.
Tip: I suggest pulling your yarn tight to remove any kinks before starting. This will help your trees lay nice.
